A plain-language summary of the safety terms that apply when you use Just One Tutor. The binding text is in our Terms of Use.
Just One Tutor does not perform criminal background checks, sex offender registry checks, motor vehicle records checks, credit checks, identity verification, or any other form of vetting of tutors or tutees. We do not endorse or make any representations about the reliability of any tutor or tutee. Where a student, parent, or school believes vetting is warranted, it is their responsibility to carry it out.
If the tutor and/or tutee is younger than 18 years old, all tutoring sessions should be supervised by a responsible adult — whether in person at an approved school location, or remotely with a parent or guardian aware the session is taking place.
What matching does and doesn't mean
Just One Tutor is a matching service: it connects students seeking tutoring with students offering it. Matches are made against parameters agreed in advance with your school — grade rules, gender policy, subjects, session formats, and approved locations — and are nota conclusion about any individual's fitness. Tutors and tutees together decide and control the methods, materials, scheduling, frequency, and duration of sessions. We can't guarantee academic results.
How accounts are verified
Registration is limited to your school: an account can only be created with an email address at a domain that school has verified, so tutors and tutees are always from the same school or an approved partner school. Tutors must also complete orientation training covering conduct, boundaries, and academic honesty before any student can book them. This is not a background check — see above.
Parent/guardian involvement
For tutees in grades 6–8 (and any additional grades a school requires), a parent or guardian must provide contact information and give consent by email before the student can book a session. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting the school. Students under 13 should not use the service; where a school makes it available to students under 13, the school confirms it has authority to consent on parents' behalf.
Reporting a concern
Every booking includes tools to report a safety or conduct concern. Reports go to your school administrator and, for serious incidents, are escalated to Just One Chesed program staff. Schools and program staff can warn, suspend, or permanently remove an account, and can prevent two specific users from being matched again. You can also email info@justonechesed.org.
Academic honesty
Tutoring is for learning support only. You may not use Just One Tutor to complete assignments or projects, write papers or essays, take or help take quizzes or examinations on someone's behalf, or do anything else that would violate your school's academic or conduct policies. Violations can be reported and may result in account suspension or removal.
Your own precautions
Users take on the risks of interacting with other users, online and offline, and should take sensible precautions for their own safety and well-being. Keep sessions to the formats and locations your school has approved.
